For local council elections, voters cannot vote outside of their council area/ward.
The NSW electoral roll for the 2024 Local Government elections closed at 6pm on Monday 5 August 2024. Voters can update their chosen address after this date but will need to attend a polling place in the council area/ward of their new nominated address on election day and complete a declaration vote.
Voters who wish to make a declaration vote need to bring the prescribed form of photo identification, namely, either an NSW Drivers License or NSW Photo Card to the polling place. The address on the photo identification must be within the council area/ward in which the voter is completing their declaration vote.
